Job
Evaluation/Salary Administration
One
of the key preoccupations with employers today is the
ability to both attract and retain employees. Part of
the answer in addressing this challenge lies with your
salary administration strategy. Where do you want to
be in terms of salary? How much is your competition
paying for the same skills? Are my salaries equitable?
These are only a few questions you need to ask yourself
when developing your overall salary administration strategy.
Equally
as important, you need to have an objective job evaluation
system in place. This ensures that every position is
ranked objectively according to its overall role in
the operation. This is important not only from a competitive
point of view but also from a pay equity perspective
where you must be able to demonstrate that all your
positions have been evaluated using a gender-neutral
system.
Once
all the positions within your workplace have been objectively
rated in relation to each other you need to translate
your salary strategy into a salary scale. Robinson
& Associates will research and come forth with recommendations
on salary scales that will take into consideration both
internal as well as external equity.
